Organisms produce huge variety of metabolites, some of which are excreted out of cells: extracellular metabolites (exometabolites). Exometabolites sometimes act as antibiotics to secure the niche. Others may play roles in adapting to harsh conditions. We\u2019re exploring novel metabolites with unexpected biological activities, from microbes and marine organisms.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
